Obituary of James R. Brust

Altamont- James R. Brust, known to his friends as Jimi, 65, of Altamont, NY passed away suddenly on Thursday, Nov 23, 2017. He was born in Herkimer, NY on November 12, 1952 to the late Eleanor Brust nee Brown and John G. Brust, Jr. He served in the Army, was a carpenter and mason, and had the lifelong hobby of fixing cars. In recent years, he lived a quiet life. He was passionate about animals and spent much of his time rescuing and caring for stray and feral cats. He is survived by spouse, Helen; children, Angela C. Brust-Balogun (Tunde) and Race Brust; stepdaughter, Athena Ladd (Joe) and family, grandchildren; Delancey and Aramide Balogun; siblings, Deborah Laraway and Shirley Moon (Jack); and nieces and nephews, Kathy Nicholl (Joe) and family, Artie Brust and family, and Michael Brust (Judy) and family. A memorial service is scheduled from 5-7pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY.
