Obituary of Rose M. Nirsberger
Rose Marie Nirsberger, 66, died peacefully at Albany Medical Center following a long illness. Rose was born on December 24, 1949 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Angeline (Marvelli) Catellier. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt. She gracefully raised her three daughters while working full time as a nurse. She spent her long and valued career of 43 years in nursing providing care for patients and their families at St. Mary's hospital in Troy, NY. She always provided laughter and a caring touch to those who most needed it. Her sense of humor resulted in great entertainment for her friends and family. Her greatest joys were her six grandchildren. Their special times cooking, shopping and joking around with her will always be fondly remembered. As she approached her retirement, she enjoyed a number of cruises with her friends. These vacations were recalled as some of the best experiences of her life.
She was a 1967 graduate of Troy High School. While raising her family, she worked as a CNA and later received her nursing degree from Albany Medical Center in the late 1970's. Rose is survived by three daughters, Heidi (John) Munnelly of Cumberland, RI, Angela Nirsberger of Troy, NY, and Rosemary (Thuan) Ton of Albany. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: MaKayla Nirsberger, Shelby Munnelly, Juancito Monegro, Angel Munnelly, Gabriel Munnelly and Renee Ton as well as Loan Ton who she always considered a daughter. Additional survivors include her brother Michael Catellier and his wife Paula as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Rose's family extends a very special thanks to longtime friend Karen Court who has been a rock and steady support and is a truly incredible friend to our family.
Another special thank you to all of the nurses, doctors, and other health care providers that took care of our mom over the past year. The comfort and care they provided to our family and our mom was superior and we are forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that everyone reach out to a nurse and thank them for their dedication and sacrifice. Write them a note, give them a hug, take them out to lunch, make them smile, make sure they take care of themselves and their own personal health, is what we ask. Nurses are special beyond words and we need to take care of these amazing people.
Please save the evening of 9/10/16 for a celebration of our mother's life. Please RSVP and/or send special comments photos or stories to RosieNurseMemorial@gmail.com by 8/31/16 with your contact information.
