Obituary of Elizabeth K Chappell

Schenectady- Elizabeth “Betty “Chappell, 95, passed away on July 10, 2021. She was born to the late Peter and Agnes McDonaugh in Luzerne, PA on March 13, 1926.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Ellwood “Chappy” Chappell. 

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Dwight) Sickler, three grandchildren; Deborah L. Franzen (Ronald), Matthew Sickler (Marcy), Charlene E. Sanna (Andrew), seven great grandchildren; Matthew Beliveau (Jenna), Mark Beliveau, Charles Sickler (Jamie), Valerie Sickler, Clayton Sickler, Caleb Sanna, Samuel Sanna. two nieces; Barbara Walliman (Frederick) and Joanne Appel (Bob) 

Betty was a hard-working and fiercely loving woman. She moved to Guilderland in the 1940’s. She raised her family there as well as nieces and nephews while working as a waitress. She was always willing to give her energy, her love and help to anyone in need especially her family.

During her years with “Chappy”, together they traveled the US in campers and on motorcycles, sharing many escapades together. She was independent and strong and was a woman’s libber before the word was even invented. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Kingsway Manor for their loving care and attention for the five years of service; also, the compassionate staff at Kingsway Nursing Home.

A funeral procession will step off at 10:30am on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont for a graveside service that will take place at 11am at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
